At the invitation of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh led a high-level Vietnamese delegation on an official visit to the Russian Federation from March 22 to 25.
The visit took place in a special context, following Vietnam's successful organization of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in January 2026, as well as the recent National Assembly elections. The visit contributed to strengthening political trust, deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, and expanding cooperation between the two countries in many fields, including investment, energy, and oil and gas.

The year 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Having weathered over 75 years of ups and downs, regional and global changes, and the history of each country, the people of Vietnam and Russia have always shared sincere, close, and warm feelings for one another. The Vietnamese people will never forget the selfless and heartfelt assistance of the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia to Vietnam's struggle for national independence and its national construction and development.

The good relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation is developing well, built upon the solid foundation of comradeship, sharing, and selfless support between the peoples of the two countries in the past. Vietnam always values the development of traditional friendship and a comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia in all fields for the common benefit of both nations, and for stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
The close ties between the two countries stem not only from close political, economic, and other areas of support and cooperation, but also from a shared spirit. Many literary works of high ideological and artistic value by great names from the Land of the White Birch have become very familiar to Vietnamese people. Generations of Vietnamese students studying in Russia have always held a special, deep, and complete affection for Russia.

When discussing the factors that contribute to the strong bond of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, it is impossible not to mention the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation, an important people-to-people "bridge." According to Do Xuan Hoang, Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Organizations in the Russian Federation, Vietnamese people residing in the Russian Federation have reached their third generation but still maintain deep ties to their homeland, a characteristic of the entire community. Vietnam is not only their origin but also their homeland and, more importantly, the future of their children and grandchildren in the Russian Federation. Chairman Do Xuan Hoang emphasized that the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation deeply believes that, with the care and nurturing of leaders at all levels, the special relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation will achieve new developments, serving the interests of the people and businesses of both countries.

The Vietnamese community in Russia, numbering approximately 80,000 people, has been and continues to be an important bridge for relations between the two countries. The vast majority of them are hardworking, love their homeland Vietnam, and are deeply connected to their second homeland, the Russian Federation, actively contributing to both Vietnam and Russia. Many have become successful entrepreneurs and highly skilled intellectuals.
