On March 25, 2026, in Hanoi, the National Data Center organized a seminar on the “National Database Development Project”. The event was attended by senior leaders, experts, scientists, and representatives from ministries, agencies, localities, organizations, and enterprises. Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Director of the National Data Center, was present and chaired the seminar.

At the seminar, delegates focused on exchanging views, analyzing, and initially clarifying many major and core issues of strategic national significance within the nine pillars of national data development. These discussions were not only technical, managerial, or market-oriented, but also directly related to national governance capacity, strategic autonomy, competitiveness, and the goal of rapid and sustainable development in the digital era.

The opinions expressed showed a high level of consensus in awareness, while approaching the issues from diverse and comprehensive perspectives — from international experience to domestic implementation; from institutional improvement and coordination mechanisms to the development of data infrastructure, foundational datasets, data economy, data industry, data technologies, and ensuring national data security, safety, and sovereignty.

Delegates unanimously agreed that developing national data is not merely a technical or administrative task, but a major issue of national, ethnic, and long-term strategic importance, directly impacting governance capacity, autonomy, resilience, and national competitiveness amid the current wave of digital transformation.

Speaking at the seminar, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Director of the National Data Center, affirmed that the success of the seminar not only helped clarify theoretical and practical issues, but also strengthened common understanding, created consensus, and opened up important directions for the new stage of development — a stage where data becomes a core resource, artificial intelligence serves as a key tool to enhance national capacity, and the data industry gradually emerges as a strategic economic sector.

He called upon leaders, experts, scientists, research institutions, academies, universities, ministries, agencies, localities, and the business community to continue supporting the Ministry of Public Security in researching and finalizing the Project, as well as in concretizing major national data policies. This collective effort will contribute to building a unified, modern, secure, and strategically valuable data foundation for the country’s rapid and sustainable development.
